Anatomic pathology entails direct visualisation of human tissue as a gross examination as well as under a microscope for proper disease or pathological condition diagnosis. Surgical pathology, oral and maxillofacial pathology, cytopathology, molecular pathology, and forensic pathology are all subtypes of anatomic pathology. Gross examination, histopathology, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, cryopathology, tissue cytogenetics, and other procedures are performed in Anatomic Pathology. The standard method in anatomical pathology is microscopic examination of tissue samples using one or more stains. Stains have been developed by manufacturers to identify and classify microorganisms in biopsy tissue samples or excisional specimens. Different gramme stains and acid-fast stains are used to detect bacteria and mycobacteria in tissue samples.
