Veterinary Imaging is a method and process for capturing images of an animal's internal organs and tissues for use in clinical analysis, medical intervention, and visual representation of the function of certain organs or tissues (physiology). The goal of veterinary imaging is to identify and treat disease as well as to reveal internal structures that are concealed by the skin and bones. In order to detect abnormalities, veterinary imaging also creates a database of typical anatomy and physiology.

Even though it is possible to image removed organs and tissues for medical purposes, pathology is typically thought of as the discipline that performs these procedures rather than medicine. It is a branch of biology that, in its broadest sense, includes radiology. Radiology employs Veterinary Imaging technologies like X-ray radiography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound, endoscopy, elastography, tactile imaging, thermography, medical photography, and nuclear medicine functional imaging methods like positron emission tomography (PET) and single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT).
