Drug repurposing to develop innovative therapeutics for Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension Drugs remains an appealing strategy since it reduces the high costs of novel drug research while also providing an added safety benefit because currently approved medications have an established dose and safety profile. Furthermore, technical advancements have enabled high-throughput screening of existing medications for novel mechanisms of action, leading to the identification of several potential new candidates. Certainly, concerns arise regarding the optimal way to optimize drug repurposing. There is a need to assess which early experimental activity should be academically guided and funded. There are structural issues to consider, such as how to select targets/therapies and what the ideal pipelines for preclinical and clinical testing of repurposed pharmaceuticals look like.
