Dosimeters Measure Radiation Doses To Ensure A Safe Exposure
Dosimeters

A Dosimeter instrument is a tool used to gauge an individual's exposure to ionising radiation. Dosimeters often report a dose, which is the amount of radiation that has been absorbed, measured in either greys (Gy) or sieverts (Sv). A personal dosimeter is a device that records the radiation dose received by the individual being monitored and is worn on the surface of their body. To be used as a radiation dosimeter, the dosimeter must have at least one physical characteristic that is a function of the measured dosimetric quantity and that may be utilised for radiation dosimetry with the appropriate calibration.
