Coronary stents are small metal mesh tubes that are inserted into narrowed or blocked coronary arteries to help improve blood flow to the heart. They are typically used in a procedure called percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), which is also known as angioplasty.

The procedure begins with the insertion of a thin, flexible tube called a catheter into a blood vessel in the arm or leg. The catheter is guided to the blocked Coronary Stents using X-ray imaging. Once the catheter is in place, a small balloon on the end of the catheter is inflated to open up the blocked artery.
