The processing of Thermoplastic Elastomers is similar to that of conventional thermoplastics, with a few key differences. Thermoplastic Elastomers can be processed using conventional thermoplastic processing techniques, such as injection molding, extrusion, and blow molding. However, due to the presence of the elastomeric phase, TPEs require higher processing temperatures and longer cooling times than conventional thermoplastics to achieve proper bonding between the polymer chains.
Thermoplastic Elastomers, sometimes called thermoplastic rubbers or copolymers, are substances with both thermoplastic and elastomeric qualities. Above their melt temperatures, TPEs have thermoplastic properties that enable them to be moulded into manufactured items. TPEs have elastomeric behaviour when utilised within their design temperature ranges and do not cross-link during manufacture. The items can also be recycled and remoulded because this process is reversible.
