The Biopolymers Are A Polymer That Is Made From Plant Fibers Like Corn Or Sugar Cane Or From Residual Wood Or Standing Timber
Biopolymers

Biopolymers are often thought to be more environmentally friendly than conventional, oil-derived polymers, although research does not fully support this claim. Despite the fact that the feedstock for the two types differs, the fermentation method used to manufacture bio-resins requires heat and hence carries an energy and carbon cost, and the subsequent polymerization step for both types contributes roughly identically. Biopolymer manufacturing is, of course, in its infancy; when production scales up and processing is optimised, biopolymers are projected to show an environmental benefit.

Recently, there has been a surge in interest in the gasification-fermentation process for converting waste biomass into Biopolymers and bioplastics. Because of their biodegradability, these bioproducts can be used as packaging material, helping to reduce waste. The Synpol project, financed by the EU, intends to create an industrial-scale process for producing biopolymers such as polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) and other polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) from syngas fermentation.
