Solid-State Physics Uses Spintronics To Detect And Manipulate Electron Spin
Spintronics

With its enormous potential to develop high-speed, low-power, and high-density logic and memory electronic devices, as well as lower threshold current and high-power lasers (optoelectronic devices) as a source for circularly polarised light, Spintronics is regarded as one of the most significant emerging research fields. While semiconductor spintronics is essential for logic and optoelectronic devices, all-metal spintronic devices (magnetoelectronic) are primarily focused on memory devices.

Spintronics has been a fascinating area of research and is now crucial for applications in magnetic storage, especially in semiconductors and magnetic multilayers. The SOC effect, which causes carrier spins to experience an effective magnetic field that is momentum dependent, is a key factor in the control of spins in semiconductors.
