All patients gave their written informed consent to the intended procedure of Anesthesia Video Laryngoscope after receiving prior information. Patients were premedicated with atropine 0.5 mg and midazolam 2 mg by IV after routine vital signs were checked and the level of sedation was assessed using the Bispectral Index (BIS) and the Ramsey Sedation Scale (RSS). Remifentanil 0.10 mcg/kg/min was started as an infusion, and 3 Litres/min of oxygen was administered through a nasal cannula to maintain spontaneous breathing in the patients. Ten minutes after the infusion of sedative began, local anaesthesia was started by gradually atomizing the oropharynx, the hypopharynx, and the laryngeal aditus with 2% lidocaine (10 ml).
