Because Mineral Wool Is Made Up Of Open Cells, It Has Low Thermal Conductivity

Cupolas commonly employ coke as a fuel source and to provide spacing between the charge material, allowing gas to flow upward from the tuyeres. The incorporation of oxygen into a cupola operation has a number of advantages, including faster production, greater temperatures near the tuyeres, lower airflow/emissions from the cupola, and reduced coke usage, the cost of which has risen dramatically in recent years.

From Mineral Wool, Air Products has created a number of ways for injecting oxygen into cupolas, including general enrichment, oxygen lances through the tuyeres and oxygen-natural gas burners with or without solid material injection, such as coke breeze. Hence, whether a cupola requires greater production or wants to cut fuel expenses, Air Products can tailor a solution to your demands. Several of these similar process capabilities can be used to processes that do not use a cupola.
