13 Tips for Making the Most of Empty Essential Oil Bottles
What do you do with your essential oil bottles when you're done with them? It would be a shame to just throw them away, here are 13 tips for making the most of your empty essential oil bottles.

Essential Oil Bottles

Tip 1: Make your own rollerball oil

Pour half a capful of cleaning liquid into a container of warm water, soak for 10 minutes and then place 1 drop of lemon essential oil on a cotton ball to remove any glue residue from the bottle. The essential oil bottle is then cleaned and the V-6 Pure Vegetable Oil can be diluted until it is as diluted as you want it to be!

Tip 2: Make aromatic bath salts

Have you run out of essential oils? This is the perfect time to make aromatic bath salts! Remove the stopper and cap from the bottle, place it and a cup of Epsom Salt in a tightly closed container and leave for at least 48 hours. For a richer bath salt, place more than one bottle in the container!

Tip 3: Decoration

Essential oil bottles = vases? This equation definitely holds true! Insert small plants or flowers into the essential oil bottle to witness the important moment when they sprout and grow. Wash the bottle thoroughly, remove the stopper and cap and gently cover the bottle with coloured light bulbs to create a festive atmosphere!

Tip 4: Storing essential oils

Use an empty essential oil bottle to store your favourite oils - geranium, tea tree and rosemary - to make your own facial moisturiser. Pour your most used oils into clean, unused bottles and share your world of essential oils with friends.

Tip 5: Dispensing

Use essential oil bottles to divide personal care products such as hair oils, facial serums and toners to streamline your packing.

Tip 6: Fragrance diffusion

Use the few remaining drops of your favourite oils to create exclusive diffusion recipes and store your masterpieces in empty essential oil bottles.

Tip 7: Deodorant

Place a cotton ball in the bottle, cap it and leave it for 3 days (with the aid of a pair of brow pliers if required) to allow the cotton ball to absorb the remaining essential oils and become an all-purpose deodorant. Cotton balls can be used anywhere - shoes, rubbish bins, sports bags, or anywhere else that needs freshening up.

Tip 8: Clothing fragrances

Take out the stopper of the essential oil bottle that is about to be vacant, put it in the cabinet or wardrobe, and let the aroma in the cabinet diffuse.Make sure the bottle is secure - otherwise your clothes will be marked with essential oils!

Tip 9: Make your own perfume

Make your own all-natural perfume or cologne and store your own fragrance in a clean, empty essential oil bottle.

Tip 10: Deodorise

To freshen up your mattress with the last drop of essential oil: pour 3/4 of the baking soda into the bottle instead of cleaning it. Leave overnight until the baking soda has completely absorbed the essential oils in the bottle. Sprinkle the baking soda over the mattress. Vacuum the baking soda after an hour to instantly remove the bed odour!

Tip 11: Home-made scented salts

Make your own 'Epsom Salt' to surround yourself with the scent of essential oils. Fill the essential oil bottle with Epsom Salt, add four drops of a fresh essential oil (such as peppermint) and shake well. Open the cap and sniff straight away for a breath of fresh air at your fingertips.

Tip 12: Multi-purpose oils

Keep your essential oils in separate bottles: one bottle with the original stopper and another with the rollerball, so the multi-purpose oils are always ready to go.

Tip 13: Mouth freshening spray

Want to keep your breath fresh? Make use of the remaining 6 drops of essential oil flavouring, pour distilled water into the essential oil bottle and replace the nozzle to create a unique mouth freshening spray!
