Can I refuel a portable generator when it is running?
Precautions for refueling the generator:
It is always best practice for your safety to shut down your generator and let it cool between fill ups. Portable generators can run at very high temperatures, and if fuel is spilled, it can easily be ignited causing a fire. This is true not only with gasoline, but with propane as well. If there should be a leak when swapping tanks, there is again an extreme risk of fire or explosion. For the safety of you and those around you, please allow your generator to cool between fill ups!
So what are the correct ways to refuel the generator?
1. Open the generator gasoline fuel tank cover, there is a filter inside, put the filter in place, start to pour gasoline in, and fill up the gasoline.
2. Lay the machine flat and open the oil cover. The oil tank is directly under the panel and on the cylinder block, there is a cover that can be screwed. After opening the oil cover, fill in the oil. The generator is flat when filling the oil. Putting it at an angle or adding oil at an angle will cause the cylinder to become stuffy, the machine will not sound, the oil is full, and the oil can be seen by the naked eye.
The above is the correct way to refuel the generator. If your usual refueling method is wrong, then correct it immediately!
