8 Ways to Wear Jewelry You Probably Haven't Tried Yet
There are a lot of ways to wear jewelry, especially if you have a modest budget and can’t afford to buy new pieces every time the season changes.

There are a lot of ways to wear jewelry, especially if you have a modest budget and can’t afford to buy new pieces every time the season changes. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t also a lot of different possibilities when it comes to incorporating your accessories into your everyday look. With a little creativity and resourcefulness, you can find new ways to incorporate your favorite pieces into any outfit. From layering multiple necklaces at once to accessorizing an old cardigan with statement jewelry, there are so many options for re-purposing your existing accessories in new ways. Here are 8 ideas for re-purposing your old jewelry or ways to wear jewelry in new ways:

1- Change your Accessories to Match Your Shoes and Handbag

When you're wearing your favorite shoes, jewelry accessories are the perfect way to add personal flair. But there's only so much you can do with a pair of sandals or a fancy handbag.

Here are two ways to change up your accessories and make them match your shoes and handbags:

  • Try out different earrings. If you're wearing a pair of heels, try slipping on some dangling earrings that are more daring than your usual studs. If you're wearing flats, try out an interesting pair of hoops or drop earrings that will make your outfit look more interesting.
  • Invest in a new necklace. When it comes to jewelry, sometimes less is more! Instead of opting for one necklace which matches everything perfectly (and makes no statement at all), pick up a few different necklaces that coordinate with your shoes and handbag but don't match each other exactly. You'll be able to mix and match these pieces as often as you want without looking like an amateur stylist (which might be what happens if all of your accessories are matching).

2- Layer Multiple Necklaces at Once

Layered necklaces are a style trend we've been waiting for. We thought they'd be so hard to master, but we've seen them all over Instagram lately—and they're just SO cute!

When you combine multiple chains of different lengths and shapes, the best part is that the look will be totally different every time. So whether you want to mix it up with a long chain like this one below, or keep it simple with a simpler necklace like this one here, layered necklaces are just so much fun!

So what are you waiting for? Put on your layers and get ready to take over the fashion world.

3- Make a Statement with Your Earrings

Earrings are the first thing that people see when they look at you, and they're usually the piece of jewelry that sets the tone for your outfit. Earrings can be delicate or bold—they're a fashion staple that can be worn to any occasion, whether it's a casual day out or a night on the town.

4- Add a Brooch or Choker

Scarves are one of the most versatile and chic accessories anyone can carry. However, when paired with a brooch or choker necklace, they can revamp your outfit like nothing else. A brooch can also be used to pin on both ends of the scarf to create a pseudo-infinity scarf. Or a bandana, or an oversized woolen scarf to add a pop of color or bling. People usually like to pair brooches with scarves in winter since that is the only way to add some color and bling to your outfit.

Brooches are also great for wearing in spring and summer as long as you pair them with bright colors or patterns like stripes or polka dots which will make the brooch look more prominent instead of blending in with your outfit.

5- Repurpose your Bracelets

For those of us who are a little more thrifty and don't have the means to buy new, it can be hard to keep your wardrobe up-to-date without breaking the bank. But don't worry! There's still hope for you.

All you have to do is pick up an old belt and dress design it up with some of your favorite pieces from your jewelry collection. You can get those at thrift stores for around a dollar each if you don't already have one on hand. Then, just glue some small pieces from your necklaces and earrings to the buckle to give it a little pizzazz!

6- Turn your Ring(s) into a necklace

Turn your old rings into new necklaces.

It's easy to turn your old rings from the bottom of your jewelry box into gorgeous necklaces. That is sure to turn heads. Updating your jewelry this way can be incredibly simple when completed as a fun DIY project with your daughter. Or more elaborate when altered by a professional. Either way, your old ring is sure to look fresh and new.

What do you need?

1) A few beads of various sizes (you can find these at any craft store)

2) A needle and thread, scissors, or a jeweler's saw

3) A glass bead or two (optional)

4) Old rings: We recommend using rings with flat backs because they'll be easier to string on the cord later on. If you're using flat back pieces, make sure they are clean and dry before proceeding with this project.

7- Try Using Anklets and Toe Rings in New Ways

We've been wearing toe rings since the beginning of time.

But what if we told you that wearing them has been a lot more than just a way to let others know whether or not you were married? What if we said that wearing a toe ring may have actually been about self-expression?

Think about it. A toe ring could be simply a way for people to express themselves, and now that you're thinking about it, maybe it is. It's easy to see how the idea of wearing something on your foot came from this idea of self-expression.

So why not try out new ways to use your toe ring? You could:

1) Wear one on each foot so that when people look up at your feet, they see the same thing—two distinct symbols representing two different things. This way, everyone can know exactly what they're looking at!

2) Wear them together in sets of four or five (or more!) so that everyone who sees you will be able to tell how many sets of toes you have!

3) Wear them around your wrist like bracelets or anklets so that they look like jewelry instead of just being… stuff on your feet!

8- Put Together a “Stack” of Rings

Ring stacking is the practice of wearing multiple rings on one hand. Rings can be stacked in a variety of ways and are often used to express personal style or mark special occasions.

The most common form of ring stacking is the engagement ring, wedding band, and additional bands. These rings can be stacked together, or they can be paired off with separate rings. Ring stacking is also common among those with multiple piercings. As well as those who have lost a finger or two (and don’t want to wear all five fingers at once).

Ring stacking can express different things depending on the situation. Some people like to stack their engagement ring with their wedding band. So that it looks like an extra piece hanging from their finger. This is known as “double-stacking” because each ring has two sides. Others prefer to stack all three rings together so that they look like one cohesive piece; this is called “triple-stacking."
